Can Medication For Pulmonary Tuberculosis Be Stopped After Normal X-ray?
My wife who is 62 yrs age affected with pulmonary tuberculosis in the initial stage. She was administered AKURIT-4 initialyy. But discontinued due to excess acidity. She is now administered FORECOX two tablets a day for the last two months. The X ray shows no indication of any TB. Can we stop the medication now.
Thanks for your question on HCM. Tuberculosis is chronic infection. And any form of TB weather pulmonary or extra pulmonary needs mininum six months of therapy. Initial two months are for symptomatic relief and next 4 months are for complete cure and for prevention of future disease. So if you stop treatment after 2-3 months there are high chances of relapse in near future. So complete full six months of treatment. If any side effect is there than contact your doctor 1st.
