Can Metaphormin Be The Cause For Sudden Sugar Level Increase?
My fasting blood sugar use to be 120 and 6.5 and 6.7 AC3 tests done three months apart, he put me on metaphormin which nearly killed me with bloating, loss of bowel control, etc. My Doc said I have type 1 diabetes. Now I am taking Januvia and my fasting blood sugar is 146 and 7.4 AC3. My sugar wasn t that high and now i regret taking the meds because it seems worse. Is it possible these medicines are made to make you dependent on them to make the drug companies rich and they actually make you worse so you need more. I m very upset and ready to quit everything.
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.
Sir, Medication will be prescribed only when the natural insulin can't reduce the sugar levels. In diabetes, medicine like metformin doesn't make you dependent. They quiet effective in reducing blood sugar levels. Blood sugars in diabetics gradually rise with time where we need increase of dose.
But you said you are diabetic type 1. If it is so, then you definitely need insulin to reduce sugar levels. But you said you are on januvia which is to treat type 2. Please consult your treating doctor and get it clarified and write back to us.
Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. we will be happy to help you. Thank you. Dr Phanindra Dulipala Diabetologist.
