Can Metformin Taken For Diabetes Cause Pinching Pain In Shoulders, Dizziness And Red Hives On Face?
The other night I went cold all over my body and I started to shake. I felt a pinching pain in between my shoulder blades. It felt like I got "shoot" with electricity. Within a few minutes I had the same pinching "electricity" pain in my left chest muscle. I got really dizzy. I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 in 2010 and they put me on metformin. The medication gave me a bad side effect. The left side of my face broke out in a red hives or something. My blood-sugar got even worse and out of control. It ended up with me loosing sensation in the right side of my body and a trip to the hospital. There they told me NOT to use the metformin anymore. Something I did. I flushed it in the toilet the next day after coming home from the hospital. Then they put me on another drug that also gave me bad side effects. The first day my blood-sugar went down to normal range but went back up to my "normal" 10.5 mmol. I have not used any medication for my blood-sugar for months after that. Now to my other problems. My legs have started to swell up on and off making it difficult for me to walk at times. My leg muscles get rock hard and it can take several hours for them to return to normal. Every time I go to the doctor they are "fine" and not swollen. I also suffer now from the fact that this problem has moved up into my shoulders and arms. I also have pressure coming from the inside of my upper right stomach. When I lay down at night I can feel a "pulse" in my stomach. This pulse moves around in my body also making it difficult to fall a sleep. My left testicle gives me this pinching pain on and off. In my mouth my teeth feels like they are half numb. It feels like the "pain" after the shoot a dentist gives you are fading out. I also have minor headache on and off. I am now at a crossroad not knowing what to do. Well they have told me that I need to get my blood sugar under control. I understand that. I am 41 years old so I understand the risk not controlling my blood sugar. The 4 doctors say that my "other" symptoms has nothing do do with my blood sugar. I have taken almost every blood test in the book. They always come back normal. My blood sugar is of course high and my cholesterol elevated some but not enough so that they want to put me on medication for it. If I fast I feel the best. Not eating anything makes almost all of my problems go away. My blood sugar goes up no matter what I eat. Eggs, chicken and so on. Slow carbs or fast carbs. It don't matter. I need advice on what to do next.
Hello, There is no denying the fact that you need to control your blood sugar levels. A wide range of oral anti diabetic medications are available, which if used judiciously can definitely control your blood sugar levels. It is quite possible for some anti diabetic medications causing side effects to you but it is not possible that all the anti diabetic medications would cause problems to you. Along with medications, take proper dietary control with 5-6 small meals a day and do regular aerobic exercises for at least 45 minutes a day. You need to consult a diabetologist and get the required and proper treatment fom him. Thanks
