Can Methadone For Pain Management Be Prescibed By Any Doctor?

I am currently looking for a pain doctor who can prescribe methadone. myself and my primary care doctor are having trouble finding one. Also we r being told that u can only prescribe it if u have a certain license is that true because alot of people I know are telling me that that isn t true anyone can but I believe my Doctor

well.... yes... but it probably isn't a good idea. Methadone has several tricky features and used to be the number one cause of overdose fatalities with prescribed opiates. They got rid of the higher milligram doses of it. And people got reasonably scared to use it. So, generally it is given at relatively low doses in pain management (30 mg a day or less) and non-pain specialists do not like to use it.
