Can Mild Hip Sclerosis Pain Be Relieved With Acupuncture?

My daughter who is 13 and is a dancer has been complaining of hip pain with clicking and grinding during dance class/stretches. She had an xray yesterday and we were told that she has mild hip sclerosis and should back off from tim spent dancing. Do you think acupuncture could relieve some of the pain? I did read that PT is suggested as well as acetominophen of NSAIDS.

Hi,
Thanks for your query. After going through your query possibility of irritable hip joint should be considered. Treatment of it is rest and analgesics such as ibuprofen. If relief is not there within two weeks then think of other causes. Second possibility is a condition called avascular necrosis of femoral head. Femoral head became rough. Hip joints movement become painful due to joint roughness. Therefore in this context is it advisable to get MRI of both hip joints. You should visit an orthopedician and plan for this test. I think acupuncture has no role.Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

I find this answer helpful
