Can Mold Exposure Cause Food To Taste Bitter?

Can exposure to mold cause foods to taste bitter or metallic? My mom had a recent bout of CDiff Colitis and was on medication for it. I know the medication can cause this but she hasnt taken the medication in quite some time. She is experiencing diarrhea and weight loss. 6 lbs in just over a week. She cant eat because of this and it is imperative that she eat because she is a diabetic
