Can Morphine Be Used After Surgery Despite Itching Caused In The Past?
Can morphine be used for pain relief after surgery even though it caused itching in the past? It was given through a pac. I was taken off of it and given something else that caused immediate head pain but I don t know what is was. I was taken off of that and given oral pain meds. I took percocet when I was sent home. This was 20 years ago and now I need surgery and I am worried how they will decide what to use on me.
I understand your concern. Even thought it happened 20 years ago, it is highly likely that you will have the same reaction to Morphine, as your immune system has a memory. Please make sure you mention this to your doctor prior to surgery, so they plan accordingly and choose the right pain medication.
I hope this helps. Wishing you all the best
