Can Mouth To Mouth Kissing With No Cuts In Either Partners Cause Non Stop Cough For 2 Months Or HIV?
Hi Doc, I had protected sex with a woman from online dating in New Zealand. I did mouth to mouth kissing. A two months later my cough is not going away. And reading from internet about symptoms of HIV is driving my crazy. I had no cuts in mouth at the time of kissing and i am sure none was in woman's mouth. Please advise Doc. very stressed person
If there were no open lesions then it is unlikely that HIV transmission would have occurred. If you are concerned, however, about your HIV status , you should consider HIV testing. There are different types of HIV tests but at 2 months you would be past the window period for the pcr DNA test.
This means the test would be able to determine accurately whether you are positive or not.
In terms of the persistent cough, there are 3 main causes such as : post nasal drip due to allergic sinusitis, gastroesophageal reflux (gerd) and asthma related cough. One of these may be causing your symptoms.
I hope this helps
