Can Myasthenia Gravis And Lewy Body Dementia Occur When Diagnosed With MSA?

I was diagnosed at first with ME A or Parkinson s Plus, then it was Guillian-Barre Syndrome. We are seriously testing for Myasthenia Gravis at this point. Besides weakness and fatigue my muscles ache. The neurologist yesterday mentioned Parkinsoniam and Meet Body. Is it possible to have MG and LBD together?

Hi,

In the given bit of data you have said you have muscle fatigue with myalgia and weakness. Now, first and foremost, this may be myasthenia - the weakness should occur after a work has been started and not throughout and myalgia usually does not affect myasthenic patients.

Fatigue can affect you in both myasthenia and muscle disorders. I would therefore seriously consider muscle diseases as a possibility and suggest testing CPK. Now, these symptoms are not a part of Lewy Body Dementia, and you have not reported any other symptom.

So from the message per se, I am not sure why this possibility is being considered. But I am assuming your examination must have yielded findings that has lead your neurologist to consider this possibility.

Now to answer your specific question - "Is it possible to have MG and LBD together?" Yes, they can occur together- not necessarily in relation to each other. But literature suggests that it is possible for a person to have both the conditions.

I would request you to let me know about your problems in details, rather than just listing the diagnosis that were considered in your case. Once I know all details, I can probably help you better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
