I was diagnosed as having a nasal lesion in 1978. Two months later they said that it was no longer there. In 1979 I was diagnosed as having hypertension. There was never any sleep study done on me. They concluded that it was due to job stress. This all happened during my time in the Air Force. When I retired after twenty years I went to my doctor and was told that I had high blood pressure and began to give me medications to lower it. Eight years later I had a stroke. After the stroke I had a sleep study done and they recommended a CPAPMACHINE . During the course of my hospitilazation for the stroke MRI detected the nasal lesions, this time they were so large I couldn t breath out of my nose. I was sent to a ENT specialist am had them removed . I no longer suffer from night sweats or breathing abnormalities during bed time. My question is, was the hypertension caused by the inability to breath properly when sleeping which in turn led to the stroke?q
