Hello Sir,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Care Magic. I understand your concern.
Most cases of
HSV-2 infection are spread through sexual transmission. Since your partner is infected she already has the virus in her vaginal secretions, which means that when a seronegative partner comes in sexual contact with these secretions, the virus can enter the body through mucosal surfaces tip of the penis, anus, or mouth or micro-abrasions on the skin (eg, the penile shaft,
scrotum, thighs, or
perineum). It means that if you have small cuts on your hands, you might get the virus, but the potential risk is low. Regarding the question of her giving you
oral sex, the risk of transmission is again very low, since you mention that the infection is only located in the genital area.
You mention that your partner is in a treatment regime with
Valtrex, which again lowers the possibility of transmission, but it doesn't disappear it.
Hope my answer helped. Feel free to ask again.
Take Care,
Dr. Ina
