Can Nortriptyline Have Any Side Effects After Completing Its Course?
I was taking nortriptyline for sciatic and other nerve issues due to a back injury. I took the 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 per night per week and then finished the dose. I have not been able to get ahold of my doctor until today to make an appointment, but have been experiencing some very strange and sometimes severe side effects. My question is this. Should a patient gradually introduce more and more of the above mentioned doses and then quit the medication abruptly, are there consequential side effects due to that?
Hi,Welcome to health care magic forum. It is not necessory to start the low dose and increase the dose daily. Nor it is stopped suddenly. It can be given in devided doses ,of the daily dose. Some may start like this as personal precaution. While stopping it it should be stopped by tapering the dose over a period of time. I advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days, and then periodically along with pain medication. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
