Can Occasional Coffee And Wine Worsen The Gastritis?
My Doctor thinks that I have Gastritis, I have been reading what foods to avoid and he has also put me on a prescription for a month, if I am suppose to eliminate coffee and alcohol, would it still be ok to have the occasional coffee or glass of wine, or will I just make it worse
Hi. Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific. Noted the history of gastritis as per the thoughts of your Doctor who has kept you on a prescription medicines that you have not mentioned and also advised to avoid coffee and wine. Even the occasional consumption of coffee and wine can certainly increase gastritis- acid related problems and hence should be strictly avoided. You should also strictly follow the list of the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems of gastritis and acidity related diseases. IF there is no complete relief you can certainly opt for an opinion of a Gastroenterologist, have upper GI endoscopy done and other relevant investigations to come to a conclusive diagnosis and proper management.
