Can One Of The Consequences Of Gallbladder Removal Be Insomnia?
Can one of the consequences of gallbladder removal be insomnia? I had my gallbladder removed in '98, and started having problems with insomnia. For years I've tried dietary changes, exercise, therapy for depression and anxiety attacks thinking that any one of those factors could contribute to insomnia. The anxiety attacks have been gone for years and the depression is now situational so easier to resolve; however, the insomnia - I haven't been able to resolve. I go through periods of a few weeks of sleeping on a normal 11-7 schedule and then periods where I can only sleep 2 hours every 48 hours. Or other times when I can only sleep during the day. Any suggestions? I'm 47, 5'7", 230, and slightly anemic.
Hello, 1) As a abdominal surgeon I affirm that there is not at all any relation between gall bladder surgery and insomnia. 2) Your disturbed sleep pattern suggest possibility of either minor depression or anxiety episodes. 3) Without worrying for gall bladder removal and possibility of its complications, you should consider to consult family physician or even psychiatrist for disturbed sleep pattern.
