Can One Take Co-codamol Instead Of Paracetamol Tablet?
Is there soluble paracetamol and soluble Ibuprofen on the market? 6 days ago I had a knee replacement op and was seriously sick whislt in hosptial taking the big pain killing drugs, i.e morphine (liquid form) codeine then Tramadol both in tablet form so was sent home with just paracetamol & ibuprofen in tablet form. I m in a lot of pain especially at night. Don t think my body likes tablets as am not getting much relief. Could I take Co-codamol evervescent 8/500mg instead of some of the paracetamol tablets?
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I can understand your concerns. Paracetamol alone is an effective analgesic only for mild type of pain such as body ache, headache, muscle pain, etc. Since you have undergone knee joint replacement recently you may need an additional stronger analgesic to reduce the postoperative pain. Had I been your treating doctor I would have advised you to take Co-codamol (Paracetamol and Codeine) effervescent) Tablet. This can be taken up to 4 times daily if required. Do not take for more than 3 days without consulting your treating doctor. Hope this will help you in getting pain relief.
