I saw the Dr. over a month ago and he used the probe to look into my ears if I had infection. He jammed the probe into both ears very deep where it hurt a lot. I have pain still in my right ear and when I swallow it feels like my hearing gets clearer in that ear, less muffled. Do you think he did permanent damage? Should I go to the ENT?
Hello, You most likely have an infection with a punctured ear drum. Antibiotics can often clear up the ear infection and the ear drum will heal once the infection is under control. Were you placed on antibiotics before? Were you advised to use a product such as Debrox to cleanse the ear? You may need a stronger dose of antibiotic or change in type of medication. You should schedule a visit with your doctor or ENT specialist. Make sure to take all prescriptions as directed. Pain can be due to pressure buildup. Fluid may drain with jaw movement and then hearing improves. Antiinflammatory medication may help reduce discomfort until your visit. Thank you for your inquiry. Do not worry, ear drums are thin and react to pressure to prevent additional damage. Treatment most likely will not result in any long term damage.
