Can Pain And Bloating Be Indicative Of IBS?

Hi! I ve never asked questioned on-line, but I m out of options. I hope you can help me. My name is Natella, I m 44. I don t eat meat, rarely drink. don t smoke and exercise a lot. I also take supplements. I had H.paroly 7 years ago and it was treated. Now, my problems started about 3 years ago and escalated. I started having bloating belly and pain in my abdomen from time to time that radiated in my back. One year ago was the fist time I had pain non stop for thee weeks. Went to the doctor, had ultrasound of everything. Everything was normal and pain went away eventually. Then those episodes became more and more command my doctor said it was probably IBS. He s not sure. Now I have very strong pain for six days non stop. It started in my right side and slowly moved to my lower abdomen, radiation to my back. I have appetite, I don t really feel tired, but pain doesn t go away. Bloating doesn t go away.I stopped eating gluten and sweets, don t drink coffee or alcohol because I m afraid some of those product cause the symptoms. What can it possibly be. I don t think IBS can cause such pain for days and weeks. Thank you so much!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to irritable bowel syndrome. I suggest using daily probiotics. I also suggest using a fiber rich diet and drink liquids. I recommend using Simethicone medications three times a day to relieve the bloating. If the symptoms continue you should see a gastrologist for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
