Can People Having Cold Sore Give Oral Sex?

Hi there, so I ve heard that when one has a cold sore that person shouldn t ever give oral sex because obviously it s a virus and it s contagious. I was just wondering does that mean absolute no oral sex or no sex while one has an outbreak? Is it okay to be intimate when one doesn t have a cold sore and hasn t had one for months?

Having any type of sore in mouth can have increased risk of transmission of HIV infection. You should not do oral sex.
