Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Diane 35 birth control pill is a combination hormonal pill used to prevent
pregnancy.
However, when you start using birth control pills for the first time or restart using it after a gap, it is necessary to use other modes of
contraception like condoms and spermicidal agents during the first two weeks along with the pills.
This is because it takes certain amount of time for the pills to function optimally and exert their
contraceptive effect.
Of course, menstrual disturbances like spotting, heavy flow and delay in
menstruation are some of the common side effects observed with use of contraceptive pills, particularly during the first few months.
Now that your periods are delayed, kindly take another urine pregnancy test after a week along with
ultrasound scan of the abdomen.
Kindly consult Gynaecologist with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
