Can Pinched Nerve In Shoulder Blade Cause Arrhythmia?
Could a pinched nerve, just on the inside of my left shoulder blade cause heart arrhythmia. Trip to hospital yesterday but could not find anything wrong with my heart. It can last a few seconds, minutes and up to two hours. I feel the sharp pain of the nerve being pinched and if I get up and wiggle around and walk I can sometimes avoid the arrhythmia which also causes shortness of breath and dizzyness of course. I am taking 2.5 mg of Sandoz-Bisoprolol I am 70 and was told I had degenerative disc disease years ago.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The tingling sensation felt in left shoulder blade is probably due to degenerative disc disease. Degenerative disc disease can cause impingement of nerves emanating from the cervical spine. This problem is called cervical spondylosis and is managed with exercise and pain killers. Arrhythmias of heart are not caused by pinching of nerves. Arrhythmia is disorder of cardiac rhythm. Some arrhytmias are episodic and do not appear at all times. A Holter study may help. I suggest you to consult your cardiologist for Holter study and continue your medication as per your prescription.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
