Can Positive Result In HPT Post Intake Of Postinor Tablets Mean Ectopic Pregnancy?

Good morning, my wife and I had sex without protection about 3 weeks back. She took postinor 2 tablets within the first 24 hours. Her period has been delayed for about 10 days now and we have done 2 pregnancy test using PT strip that returned positive. About to go confirm the pregnancy through a blood test but we are scared of ectopic pregnancy as we have read this could be consequent in pregnancies after taking postinor 2. How can this be confirmed, what should we do?

Hi,

After Postinor-2 taken within 24 hours of sex definitely avoids pregnancy. The delay in periods after emergency contraceptive intake is due to altered hormonal pattern in menstrual cycle, it's normal. In absence of bleeding after 15 days delay, pregnancy is to be tested by HPT. Please go for the same at proper time. Ectopic pregnancy is mostly seen as a weak positive test. A USG scan after 5 weeks gestation can confirm ectopic pregnancy.
