Can Pregnancy Happen Despite Taking An I-pill?

My gf took I-pill on 19/01/17 despite of having protected sex. She ended her period on 12/01/17. But it is 28/01/17, she did not have her withdrawal bleeding. On 27/01/17 we did a pregnancy test at home where the result was negative. We are worried. Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

After taking an emergency contraceptive pill like i-pill, she needs to get breakthrough bleeding within 5 to 7 days.

If there is any delay in getting periods, you need to seek medical attention promptly after taking the urine pregnancy test.

The reason for the delay in getting periods needs to be evaluated clinically and appropriately managed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
