Can Rabies Be Contracted After Being Licked By A Dog?
I met with an incident a dog has licked my leg there after I hv scratched that point I felt like something goes in my head.one of the doctor hv misguided me while saying that it s a insect bitten thereafter 14 days I took arv vaccination.plz let me know I will be ok in future
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Rabies is spread when an infected animal scratches or bites another animal or human. Saliva from an infected animal can also transmit rabies if the saliva comes into contact with mucosal surfaces like the eyes, mouth, or nose. Its spread through intact skin when the animal licks is remote. You need to take anti-rabies vaccine if at all you come in contact with animal through bite/scratch or its saliva with mucosal surfaces. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
