Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am female, 71 years old, with coronary heart disease, have high triglycerides, cholesterol is up and down, have low thyroid (but is steady for last year or so), do not smoke or drink, not very active. I have had 7 UTI s over the last 2 years. And I am also battling pretty severe muscle pains in my legs due to taking statins for cholesterol. Have tried Effexor and another similar med, but to no avail. Could the UTI s and muscle pains be connected? What kind of risk am I running by not taking statins just so my legs don t hurt (and they have been really bad).
If you have not tried all the statin , you can try another to see if it works or you can use an alternative that would not cause muscle pain. Eg niacin or ezetimbe
I hope this helps

Can Recurrent UTI Cause Muscle Pain In The Legs?
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic The UTIs are not likely related to the muscle pain. With a history of coronary heart disease and high cholesterol, then there is a risk of progression of heart disease, heart attack or stroke with no statins or other cholesterol medication. If you have not tried all the statin , you can try another to see if it works or you can use an alternative that would not cause muscle pain. Eg niacin or ezetimbe I hope this helps
