Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Tonight I went to dinner with some girlfriends. I had a glass of red wine before dinner & with appetizers and a second glass with dinner. While we were waiting for dessert to be served, I felt overheated and my vision got blurry. I passed out while sitting in my chair at the table and my girlfriends freaked out and called 911. By the time the ambulance got there I was fine. They insisted on putting me on a gurney and into an ambulance but I refused to go to the hospital. The only thing they could determine was that my blood pressure was a bit low. I have been fine ever cents. Could this have been caused by the red wine?
Red wine can cause lightheadedness and drowsiness. However, it does not usually cause hypotension. The fainting must have caused reduced cardiac pumping effort, and was recorded and slight low blood pressure. However when you came back to normal, your blood pressure was also back to normal.
