Can Red Yeast Rice Supplements Be Taken Along With CoQ10 For Hypercholesterolemia?
USE OF STATINS FOR HIGH CHOLESTEROL FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME CAN GIVE YOU UNDESIRABLE SIDE EFFECTS. IS IT SAFER TO USE RED YEAST RICE 600MG AND COQ10 TOGETHER TO LOWER CHOLESTEROL? WHAT I AM READING ABOUT RED YEAST RICE IS THAT IT IS THE SAME AS STATINS SO WOULD NT THAT STILL RESULT IN THOSE SAME SIDE EFFECTS?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Hypercholesterolemia is a condition in which total cholesterol level is elevated above normal. Statins are advised to be taken if the LDL Cholesterol fraction is also higher along with total cholesterol level. Diet also plays an important part in keeping the cholesterol level under check. Also, you need to do regular exercise in the form of brisk walk for about 35 minutes in a day. Along with diet and exercise, consuming red yeast rice, CoQ10 and niacin are known to have an added effect by bringing down the cholesterol level and maintaining it within normal limits. But it would depend on the lipid profile results obtained. Kindly consult Physician with your lipid profile report for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
