Can Scar Tissues Near The Cervix Reoccur After A LEEP Procedure?
hello, I had a leep procedure due to hpv virus in Feb this year, good results at that time. I went for pap test but doctor said he could not get a good cervical test due to scar tissue closure at the mouth of cervix. He tried to take care of it in the office but was unable to. I just turned 62 this year and my husband died in 2002, to which i have not had any other partners. Doctor said I need another Leep done under anesthsia. My question is wont the scar tissue come back and will i need to have this procedure each year to check for cervical cancer? I am confused and concerned. Thank you, Bonnie
The scar tissue reformation will be normal part of recovery after LEEP procedure as well. To get tissue for Pap smear, one may get an analgesic dose of anesthesia to get scrapping of internal squamous and columnar epithelial junction.
