Can Septoplasty Surgery Cause Metallic Taste And Bad Breath?
I had septoplasty surgery approximately six weeks ago and I have a metalic taste in my mouth and am aware of bad breath as well. Could this be a result of my surgery. I find it very depressing and it is affecting my social confidence. I am in my forties, 70kg and 166cm tall.
As per your query, yes septoplasty surgery can cause metallic taste and bad breath and it is very common. It could be due to antibiotic treatment, modification of nasal septum and could be intranasal packings.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to maintain proper oral hygiene. You should do warm saline rinses thrice and consult ENT specialist once for proper examination amd start treatment accordingly. Visit oral and maxillofacial surgeon as well for complete oral prophylaxis. Chew on sugar free candies. Drink plenty of water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
