Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a severe ear infection in both ears. After antibiotics and tons of nose spray, etc...the ENT doc went with ear tubes to relieve the pain and pressure. I've been on ciprodex for 7 days. My hearing is very diminished and I can hear myself talk muffled-like. When will that stop?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that due to Ear infection there is inflammation or perforation of the ear drum leading to muffled hearing.. There can also be fluid behind the eardrum leading to muffled and reduced hearing.. As tubes have been placed in the ears gradually the fluid will drain off completely and the infection will continue to subside gradually.. As the infection will subside and the eardrum will heal the hearing will improve.. It can take for a few months for considerable recovery so you should keep patience and continue treatment..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
