Can Severe Hyperthyroidism Cause Pancreatitis?

Hello,I nearly died recently from a thyroid storm . I d been diagnosed after many tests, that I had a rather bad case of hyperthyroidism. I d experienced a great weight loss in the previous year without trying to do so. After life-saving care by the EMTs and ER doctors, ( one was also an endocrinologist ), and he recognized what was happening to me, ( I was unconscious ). About ten days later, I developed pancreatitis. Could it have been related to my extreme hyperthyroidism?

Thank you for trusting HCM

There are two possibilities for pancreatitis associated with hyperthyroidism

-Antithyroid medication like methimazole can cause pancreatitis
-Autoimmune condition like hashimotos thyroiditis (which initially causes hyperthyroidism) can cause pancreatitis.

Please be advised to discuss with your treating physician to discuss these possibilities.
