Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Severe Pain From Nerve Compression Cause Blood Vessels To Burst?
I have been diagnosed with 2 pinched nerves in my lower back. I developed a skin lesion on top of my left ankle and also behind my left knee after suffering severe pain in my left leg in those areas where the lesions appeared. Can severe pain from nerve compression cause blood vessels to burst?
Such skin lesions develop due to a condition called varicose veins or after DVT. DVT that is deep vein thrombosis can cause severe pain. Nerve compression pain is also severe. Hence I would advise you to consult your doctor for clinical evaluation, get a second opinion of a specialist like general surgeon or orthopedic surgeon as the case may be for clinical evaluation and to go for confirmatory investigations.
Ultrasound with color Doppler of the lower limbs. MRI of the lumbar spine to decide the nerve compression. Relevant tests of blood. All these will decide the exact cause of your symptoms and correlation with signs and investigations will guide for a proper management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
