Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was diagnosed with shingles before they appeared on my skin. I had severe pain inside not outside my back and referring to my abdominal area. I was in horrible pain for a week before my hospital stay.. It took another four days before any outside spots. I am worried about internal damage. Can you help?
It is understandable to be concerned but shingles is not usually associated with internal damage to the organs.
If you still wish to assess your general health, you can consider liver function tests, kidney blood tests (creatinine, bun), complete blood count, electrolytes. This basic panel would indicate if there are any problems.
I hope this helps
