Can Shots Of Proluton Depot And Tetanus Lead To Nausea And Discomfort While Pregnant?
Hello Doctor, Yesterday my wife (32nd week of pregnancy, taking proluton since 14/11/13 evry week due threatened pre-term labour) was given injection of PROLUTON DEPOT & TETANUS (2nd DOSE) on opposite side waist within 5 mint time. She is feeling uncomfortable since then & we want to know if there is any harm in taking these two injections simultaneously? Thank you Anand
Proluton depot injection and Tetanus can be taken safely at different sites. Hence there should not be any reason for concern. Also wanted to suggest you that it is always preferred to take Tetanus injection at deltoid region rather than waist area because of decreased immunogenicity if given in waist area.
In case if your wife still continues to be uncomfortable, ask her to rest well and maintain hydration and rule out any pregnancy related issues. Do get back to me if the symptoms persist.
Wish you and your wife safe health and happy parenthood.
Best regards, Dr. T. Shobha Deepak MBBS, MD
