Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can social anxiety disorder be treated naturally? I haven t even been diagnosed but I m pretty sure all the symptoms i m having sound exactly like it. I was in a friends wedding this past weekend and my anxiety was at a level 10. When I was standing up during the ceremony I thought I was going t fall over. My heart was pounding and I was stammering back and forth praying I wouldn t pass out. this is so scary I hate this. its been happening more and more during social events. Or work situations. What can I do to get treatment for this?
Social anxiety disorder is a chronic mental health condition in which social interactions cause irrational anxiety.
For people with social anxiety disorder, everyday social interactions cause irrational anxiety, fear, self-consciousness and embarrassment.
Symptoms may include excessive fear of situations in which one may be judged, worry about embarrassment or humiliation or concern about offending someone.
Talk therapy or psychotherapy and antidepressants can help increase confidence and improve ability to interact with others. I suggest online psychotherapy and counseling.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr K. V. Anand, Psychologist
