Can Sore Throat Infection Cause Complications In A Root Canal Procedure?

I seem to be enveloping a very sore throat condition, it may bee strep throat or something similar. I am scheduled for a root canal procedure in about 10 hours from now. Should I be concerned the root canal procedure would be complicated by the sore throat condition?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain if you have sore throat that can be due to bacterial or Viral throat infection, my suggestion would be to first of all get it treated as although it may not complicate Root Canal Procedure but can exaggerate infection, cross infection to the dentist and also infecting the instruments..

Also there can be increased inflammation in throat and pain..

So first of all consult an Otolaryngologist or General Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and use a humidifier in your room..
Suck throat lozenges and avoid spicy and chilled foods..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
