Can Sore Throat With Pain Be Caused By Smell Of Paint?

I woke up this a.m. with a very painfull sore throat (w/dry cough). I am 52 yrs old with seasonal allergies... I spent my day yesterday painting outdoors and did not use a mask. It was majority paint brushing wood preservatives....and spray painting (one can) which I could smell as I was spraying... Could this be what is causing my sore throat??? Anything I can do or just wait it out??
