Can Soreness In Mouth Be Related With Arthritis?

I am having extreme soreness in my mouth, far back in the hinge of my left jaw. I have had no injury of any kind to cause this. I have rheumatoid arthritis which affects my hands, legs, feet, and am on medications (Methatrexate, B-12, injections weekly). Could arthritis be causing this distress in my jaw or does this sound like another problem? Problem has persisted for about 5 days and is a bit less painful each day.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Yes rheumatoid arthritis may also affects your jaw.

We may need to do MRI face or CT face scan if symptoms persist.

Osteonecrosis of jaw bone can be side effect of some anti rheumatoid drug.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
