Hi,I am Dr. Carol Rogala (Emergency Medicine). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Stent Insertion Be Delayed If Having 80% Blockage In Arteries?
I am 64 year old male and have had 3 mild heart attacks and have had stents each time. The last one was a month ago. At that time the doctor said I had two more arteries that were 80% blocked and needed to be stented soon. He wants to do it next week, but for various reasons, I want to wait until the middle of April....Is okay to wait that long?
Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding your concern I would like to explain that stenosis 80% of coronary arteries are classified as clinically significant, and when they are manifested with chest angina they should be treated promptly, because a dangerous myocardial infarction may be a possible complication. I strongly recommend you to follow your doctor's advice and treat your coronary artery problems as soon as possible by coronary angioplasty and stentsimplantation when feasible. Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings! Dr. Iliri
