Can Stool Softener Cause Diarrhoea And Mucus From Anus?
Had a hysterectomy 4 days ago. Started with constipation. Doctor advised I use stool softner and enema. Yesterday I took 1 stool softner and a quarter of an enema. I now have diahrea about every 45 minutes and now just mucous coming out of anus. Is this normal.

Diarrhea and mucus are normal after the soap water enema and laxative intake as part of its physiologic mechanics over the colon.
It usually takes around 48 hours for intestine movements and passage to behave normally, so do not panic and follow up the advice of your consultant surgeon regularly.
