Can Strenuous Exercising Cause Elevated Liver Enzymes?
i exercise allot 2 times a day ussually because of track and field i had a blood test 2 weeks ago and when it came back the doctor told me that i had high enzymes levels from my liver and kidney. the blood test was done at approx 10 30 am and i had breakfast that mouring. the day of the resulsts the doctor gave me another blood test but this time checking my AST ATL GGH levels. i have been doing readings on enzymes from the liver in the blood and read that streouneous excersice could be the cause in a spike in AST and ATL levels. and now that i remember i excersiced and ate the night before and mourinng of both the blood tests, i excercise everyday anyhow, and i mean i excercise to about 80-100 percent effort. So my question is are the enzymes levels raised due to my excersice habbits? because i cant find any other reason why. i dont drink, take drugs- prescription or illigal, its apart of my athletic values. thanks for the help
What you are doing is fine. Strenuous exercise can lead to a mild increase in aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels, but not much effect on alanine transaminase (ALT). You have not mentioned your full liver function test (LFT) report. I would suggest you meet your physician, and if enzymes are abnormal, he would suggest you get some other tests for liver like Hepatitis B and C. So rather than worrying please discuss with your physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
