Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 53 year old female. I am 5 3 , weigh 115 pounds and have always excercised regualrly except for the past several months since my father passed away. My recent standard lab tests for my upcoming annual physical showed my Hemoglobin level to be at 5.9 and the lab sheet said this was out of range and is consistent with prediabetes. I am panicked. Can all of the stress I have been under for the past year have caused this and is it reversible??
Details: hemoglobin levels of 5.9 are considerably low to the extent that you need iron supplements in injection forms. I would suggest you to get it checked again. If its still low, visit your physician immediately. Regarding the cause, stress can indirectly cause this low hemoglobin because adequate diet is ignored. Eat green vegetables and fruits like carrot and pomegranate. Hope this helps. Thanks.
