Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My roomate's face went numb two weeks ago and he has been on medications for herpes ailment, so his doctor said, the meds did not work and she has now given him a new medication and told him take it for a week and if it does not work you need to see a neurologist. She would not tell him why. Can stress cause one sided numbness only in the left side face and head, but not below the head.
I went through your details. Stress and anxiety cannot cause physical numbness, but can cause mental numbness. That is called obsession. Due to stress and anxiety, facial muscles do twitch. If you obsess those twitching and and momentary stiffness as a sign of numbess and continue obsess with it, in all possibility that becomes psycho somatic symptom. I think that was happened with your friend. You should consult a neurologist for confirmation. After confirmation get treatment for anxiety and depression from a psychologist.
