Can Stress Cause Recurring Waves Of Pain In Chest While Having Fibromyalgia?
I am a 46 year old female with Fybromialgia. I work full time in the recreation dept as a programmer I have been under a lot of stress lately at work by now most of my deadlines are past. I have run 5km races and 10 km races for the last 4 years but was injured in the start of the year and had to stop running. I am slowly getting back to it. For the last 3 days I have been experiencing chest pain on e right side. The pain would come in waves. It was suggested that it may be a muscle thing and indeed to stretch more. I started doing that yesterday but it doesn t seem to help. Last night it started getting more painful.i didn t sleep well. I woke up once with pain and of course am anxious now that it s a cardiac problem. The pain has become worse but still comes in waves not constant. They are closer together now. I was having what I thought were palpitations and was given a stress test and heart monitor about 2 years ago. They told me that what I was feeling was a common problem that many people have but most don t feel it. They said it was just an electrical misfire and not to be concerned.
You have a history of having fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia causes inflammation of the breast bone or ribs due to which people experience pain. It may cause costochondritis that is often confused with chest pain due to cardiac issues.
Fibromyalgia may cause sharp, stabbing chest pain. Pain may increase cardiac workload in people who have cardiac diseases. Anxiety and stress may cause restlessness and hence chest pain. You are suggested to have a complete medical check up to remain fit. Take antacids and PPIs for relief. Take adequate rest and sleep. Take a break from work if you are stressed up.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
