Can Subcoronic Hematoma During Early Pregnancy Lead To Discharge Of Watery Bloody Liquid In 18th Weekk Or Is It PROM?
I am 18wks pregnant and recently awoke to significant wetness which I was unsure if it was urine or amniotic fluid. I went to the hospital and nitratize test strip which proved positive but they were unable to see ferning on the slide. For the next several hours I had more liquid mixed with watery blood. They are saying it was pPROM and the statistics are very grim. However, since that day (3 days later) I have had no leaking or blood. Early on in my pregnancy (7wks) I had a subcoronic hematoma, could that have had something to do with this and it not actually be pPROM after all.
Hi, Welcome to HCM, Sub- chorionic haemorrhage can cause water mixed blood discharge. PPROM and subchorionic haemorrhage can be together also. PPROM is premature rupture of membrane. Blood which is collecting between placenta and uterine wall is mixing with water of amniotic cavity, and then through the high rupture of membrane, it is coming out of vagina. Risk is that, you may deliver prematurly or your baby may not grow well. Importance of this finding is that, you do complete bed rest, have proper nutritional supplement , specially Amino Acids, and Antibiotics. Your Doctor has to monitor your baby for Growth. Once you go successfully up to 32-34 weeks, your Doctor may plan for elective LSCS. Best wishes Dr H Hamdani
