Can Swallowing Engine Oil Have Long Term Side Effects?
Hi i swallowed engine oil a few hours ago. I was not sure how much did i swallowed it because I immediately threw the oil away from my mouth. Mybe one or two gulps. However, I ve showed no symptoms at all. I am feeling fine. What should i do now doc? I am afraid this that this may lead to long term effects.
Depending on the amount consumed, the ingestion of engine oil causes sore throat, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, convulsions, etc. which can be appreciated within minutes to up to 48 hrs of consumption.
So, it is advisable to immediately report to Emergency Department for Stomach wash/ Gastric lavage. Once the contents has been removed, further management will be based on the symptoms.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
