Can Taking Amoxicillin Cause Itchy Rashes, headache And Dizziness?
Hi. My mother (87) had dental work today. She took amoxacillin about 6 hours ago. She developed an itchy rash and got headachy. About 30 minutes ago she started to shake some and feel dizzy. 2 hours ago, we talked to a pharmacist. Couldn t reach her doctor or the endodontist. He suggested 25mg. of plain Benedryl. This did not help the rash. She still feels terrible. I am trying to decide if we need to go to ER. It is 11:30 pm, and single digits in temp. outside. What should I do?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic used to treat many different types of infection caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to amoxicillin or to any other penicillin antibiotic. The signs you have mention are side effect of this drug. If I were your treating doctor I would stop the medication and tell you to rush to an Emergency Room.
