Can Taking BP Medications Cause Hives And Swollen Lips?

What can you take besides Lisinopril? I ve been on it for a while and lately, I am getting hives and itching, my lip swelled up yesterday, several odd things. I work at a hospital and a coworker said these can be side effects of my BP medicine. What is an alternative medicine?

Hi thank you for querry.
yeah you are right lisinopril cause angioedema along with skin rash and photosenstivity.
you must discontinue the therapy.
if such patient came to me than i will suggest according to guide line
in a younger age group ACEI is the 1st drug of choice lisinopril is one of them if not tolerated than
second line drug calcium channel blockers.so i advise tab.amlodipine to my patient in such condition.
but its dose adjustment titrated according to BP monitoring report.
Along with pharmacotherapy reduce salt, fat and sugar diet.
stop smoking and drinking.
start exercise, good nutrion with reduce tension and worries.
hope the answer will help you.
