Can Taking Metrogyl 400 Be Safe For Loose Motions?

what is the best medicine for loose motion my stomach gone worse after taking bactrim ds i could never recover my sotmach after that i alway having loose motions and dr. suggested me metrogyl 400. it seems this medicine is working and getting relief but don't know how long i should take this medicine.

There may be 2 main causes of loose stools (for the discussion here)- one is an infective cause. There may have been some added infection. In this case, the antibiotic metrogyl may be a very very good choice to control loose stools. The usual duration for this is 5-7 days.

The other possible cause is an antibiotic induced loose stools. A course of prebiotics like sporolac may help. Also avoidance of antibiotics that caused loose motion may help.

Best also to test a stool routine and microscopy

welcome to hcm,
yes obviopusly your doctor was correct in prescribing you metronidazole i recommend to take the drug twice morning and evening after food for 3 days.
have adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration
take electrolytes if necessary
