Can Taking Plan B Cause Heavy Brown Vaginal Discharge?

Hi, My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex on her last day of her period. She wasn t bleeding at all anymore. I did not ejaculated inside her. However, I believe there was some precum while having sex. She took plan B one step pill within 24hrs of having unprotected sex. Exactly 1 week later she started having heavy brown discharge. No cramps, just the bleeding. Could this be a side effect of plan B? I m concerned about her health. Thank you very much for your help.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

Your girlfriend must have breakthrough bleeding due to intake of a plan b pill. This type of bleeding occur normally with in 3 weeks of the pill intake. This is normal feature of pill & there is nothing to be worried about
You also might have your period can be delayed for some time. This is known side effect of this pill.
Use condom or regular contraceptive pill as method of conception in future. Taking more emergency contraceptive pills can cause problems like irregular periods, ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome & even infertility.
