One year old child with recurrent
urinary tract infection, Uti.
Hi and welcome to HCM..
I thank you for posting your query here and I'm definitely going to help you out..
I being a surgeon, we encounter so many such cases day in and day out.
I read your question completely and have understood it well enough..
Well, I will analyze all your points and provide necessary information..
1. One year child with Uti..
Yes, children are more prone to develop Uti.
Generally, below one year, boys have more incidence of Uti than girls, which will change after 1 year of life.
2. Septran is a very good drug. Especially for Uti.
But, I am little hesitant to give that drug too frequent to one year old.
3.
Fever with urine report of pus cells, again indicate of Uti as you have rightly guessed...
But I suggest you these following things
A. Get urine culture and sensitivity..
This will tell us, the organism responsible for Uti and the sensitive antibiotic to be given.
B. Suggest, to go for other antibiotic this time around.
Hope this helps you, in case you need any further assistance, please let me know.
I'm there for you my dear friend..
Take care and God bless you.
